Gamescom - Check Out All These Press Conferences!

Gamescom has become an event to look forward to over the years. Companies have been using it to reveal new IPs (Intellectual Properties) and even hold big press conferences in these events like at E3 or Tokyo Game Show. Its put Gamescom on the map as a great intermediary between those two bigger shows and gives people like me a taste of what is to come later in the year and early next.
Sony, Microsoft and EA all had their press conferences and these are some of the announcements that I am most excited about or just news bombs that shocked me.
Rise of the Tomb Raider XBone Exclusive

What I thought was the biggest news coming out of any of these conference is the fact that Rise of the Tomb Raider is now Xbox One exclusive. While this is most likely going to be a timed exclusive I feel having a big title like Tomb Raider is going to be a big help for Microsoft since they are trailing in sales at the moment.
Other than the fact that it was a sweet business move Tomb Raider was a game I really enjoyed when it came out last year. The whole mix between Uncharted style climbing and exploration and the story of Lara now only finding ancient treasure but fighting with her new life style, seeing her becoming more and more desensitised to violence and becoming more “hardened” as the game progressed was a really fun to experience
.
Quantum Break

Straight up I though Alan Wake was a pretty subpar game. Conceptually it was awesome switching between the real world and his story book world coming to life but any time I had to actually play Alan Wake I didn’t enjoy it. That being said I know that Remedy can do something sweet and I think they’re going to pull it off with Quantum Break.
At the Microsoft press conference they showed off actual gameplay where the main character can actually control time. He’s able to stop time for brief periods and run out of enemy sight but the one thing that interested me was stopping time on specific objects. Or even stop time around an enemy and pump a whole clip towards the time stopped area, then when time starts again all the bullets hit at once. It was a really cool thing to see on screen and looked very fun to play. Though the one thing that confused me was the ability to use your time powers while time is already stopped, like, how to do do that?!
Rime

Rime is on my list purely because of how beautiful it looks. I’m always a sucker for bright and vibrant colours. It reminds me a little bit of Windwaker mixed with Ico. Let us hope it’s more of the former rather than the later because I thought Ico was a terrible game.
BloodBorne

I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who actively dislikes Dark/Demon’s Souls. From Software has really cornered the market on dark, gritty fantasy games that would rather kick you in the balls then actually let you progress through the game. Bloodborne doesn’t seem to be any different, with its perpetual nighttime locals and just gross looking monsters.
From the Gamescom trailer the game seems faster paced than Dark Souls which sounds like a lot of fun, but I’m still waiting for some actual gameplay footage of a dude dying. I still got to give From Software some props though, I don’t know how after 3 games they are still making new and equally as terrifying enemy designs.

Well that’s it for the press conference side of Gamescom. EA didn’t really blow me away with anything even though they had some sweet couch explosion tech in their Battlefield Hardline demo. Depending on how much news comes out of the later days I might do another one of these but otherwise I hope you enjoyed reading it.
Did you guys have any favourites from the pressers that I didn’t get? Did you think EA had anything of value? Do you think I’m a mad man for thinking Ico is a bad game? Leave some info in the comments below.
